What Is WaTiki Indoor Waterpark?
WaTiki® Indoor Waterpark Resort is a year-round family waterpark in Rapid City and is promoted by the resort as the largest indoor waterpark in the Dakotas. It combines more than 30,000 square feet of indoor water attractions with connected hotels, dining and Koko’s Arcade.
Indoor Waterpark
Large slides, lazy river, activity pool, Koko’s Kingdom and Oasis Hot Tub under one roof.
Resort Stay
Five associated hotels include WaTiki waterpark passes with qualifying room stays.
Dry-Land Break
Koko’s Arcade has more than 50 classic and modern games when swimmers need time out of the water.
If you are still deciding whether a warm indoor park makes more sense than an outdoor seasonal waterpark, our 2026 U.S. indoor waterpark planning guide explains the differences between day passes, hotel packages, toddler-friendly parks and larger destination resorts.
WaTiki Day Passes & Tickets 2026
WaTiki’s current admissions system is simpler than many resort waterparks, but there is one rule visitors should understand before driving to Rapid City: public day-pass inventory is limited.
Buy a limited day pass online in advance. Do not depend on a walk-up purchase.
Waterpark access is included based on the maximum occupancy of the booked room.
Additional passes beyond the room allowance can be purchased at the hotel front desk at a discounted guest rate.
How Much Is a WaTiki Day Pass?
WaTiki does not currently display one universal fixed 2026 day-pass price in the text of its public admissions page. The official page sends visitors into a live reservation system, where price and remaining inventory are tied to the selected date.
| Access Type | Current Official Rule | Best For | Check Before Paying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public Day Pass | Limited quantity; advance online purchase only. | Rapid City locals, road-trip families and non-hotel visitors. | Exact date price, inventory, hours and waiver. |
| Connected Hotel Stay | Waterpark access included with qualifying room stay. | Families needing a room, breakfast, dry clothes or multiple swim sessions. | Room occupancy, nightly rate, taxes and hotel cancellation terms. |
| Extra Hotel Pass | Available at hotel front desk at a discounted guest rate. | Registered hotel guests whose party exceeds the included room-pass count. | Current front-desk price and maximum occupancy rules. |
How to Buy a WaTiki Day Pass
- Open the official WaTiki admissions page.
- Open the live booking system and select your intended date.
- Confirm remaining day-pass inventory and the price shown for that date.
- Review operating hours before completing payment.
- Complete the required waiver before arrival when prompted.
- Save your confirmation to your phone so you are not relying on cellular service at check-in.

WaTiki Day Pass vs Hotel Stay
The cheapest ticket is not automatically the lowest-stress choice. Families traveling from outside Rapid City should compare the total day-pass cost with a room that already includes waterpark access.
You Only Need the Waterpark
- You already have lodging elsewhere.
- You live near Rapid City.
- You only want one swim session.
- Your selected date still has day-pass inventory.
- You do not need a private room for naps or clothing changes.
You Want a Resort Base
- You are driving a long distance.
- You have toddlers who may need naps.
- You want easier access to dry clothes and personal items.
- You want waterpark passes included with the room.
- You are building WaTiki into a longer Black Hills trip.
This same day-pass-versus-room calculation comes up at other indoor resorts. Our Great Wolf Lodge day-pass and hotel guide is useful if you want to compare how another large family resort handles public admission versus overnight access.
Which WaTiki Hotels Include Waterpark Access?
WaTiki states that waterpark passes are included with stays at its five associated hotel properties, with the included number based on the maximum occupancy of the booked room.
| Hotel | Waterpark Access | Useful For |
|---|---|---|
| Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott | Included with stay | Families wanting direct resort convenience. |
| La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham | Included with stay | Families looking for breakfast and pet-friendly options. |
| Residence Inn by Marriott | Included with stay | Longer stays and families wanting suite-style accommodation. |
| Home2 Suites by Hilton | Included with stay | Extended stays, kitchenettes and family space. |
| Courtyard by Marriott | Included with stay | Travelers combining leisure, business or events. |
WaTiki Slides, Lazy River & Water Attractions
WaTiki is a compact resort waterpark rather than a giant 100,000-square-foot destination park. Its layout works best when families mix the three major slides with Koko’s Kingdom, the activity pool, lazy river and hot tub instead of repeatedly crossing the park.
Parrots Plunge
Major slide Bowl featureWaTiki describes Parrots Plunge as its biggest slide, sending riders into a large bowl before continuing through the tunnel.
Turtle Shell
Tube slideA tube-slide experience with an open design and waterfall-style water effects.
Seahorse Slide
Body slide Thrill rideA faster twisting body-slide option for visitors looking for more intensity.
Koko’s Kingdom
Younger kids Interactive playMulti-level children’s water-play area with fountains, climbing features, smaller slides and a large dumping bucket.
Activity Pool
Family Active playIncludes basketball hoops and a lily-pad balance feature for visitors wanting something more active than floating.
Lazy River
RelaxingA slower family reset zone and useful break between climbing slide stairs and active pool play.
Oasis Hot Tub
RelaxationWarm-water relaxation area for older guests and supervised families.
Families comparing WaTiki with a much larger indoor resort can also read our Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark day-pass guide , which helps show how attraction count, hotel access and ticket structure change at a larger destination resort.
Is WaTiki Good for Toddlers & Younger Kids?
WaTiki has several features that work for younger children, particularly Koko’s Kingdom and lower-stress family areas. The most important issue is not slide count—it is keeping the visit short enough that little kids do not become cold, hungry or overtired.
Non-Potty-Trained Children
Waterproof swim diapers are required at all times. WaTiki says swim diapers can also be purchased in Koko’s Arcade.
Life Jackets
Complimentary life jackets are available inside the park near Koko’s Kingdom.
Supervision
WaTiki has certified lifeguards, but the resort still tells parents and guardians to actively supervise children.
Towels, Lockers, Showers, Tubes & Life Jackets
| Amenity | Current WaTiki Policy | What Visitors Should Do |
|---|---|---|
| Towels | Complimentary for hotel and day-pass visitors. | You may also bring your own if preferred. |
| Life Jackets | Complimentary; located near Koko’s Kingdom. | Use them for weaker swimmers and follow staff guidance. |
| Slide Tubes | Provided first come, first served. | Return an unused tube near the slide so another guest can use it. |
| Lockers | Rental lockers available in locker rooms. | WaTiki accepts cash or credit card for locker rental. |
| Showers | Available in men’s and women’s locker rooms. | Bring your own toiletries; WaTiki says toiletries are not supplied. |

WaTiki Accessibility Information
WaTiki publishes more accessibility information than many waterparks, which is particularly helpful when a family member uses a wheelchair or needs assistance entering a pool.
Accessible Facility
WaTiki states that the resort provides accessible entrances, exits and restrooms.
Elevators & Lifts
Elevators and lifts are available to help guests access different levels of the facility.
Pool Lifts
WaTiki says pool lifts are available to assist guests with pool entry and exit.
Travelers with a specific transfer, mobility or medical requirement should still contact WaTiki before booking so staff can explain the exact access route for the intended attraction.
Can Weather Close an Indoor Waterpark?
Yes. WaTiki is indoors, so normal cold, snow and rain do not create the same operating problems as an outdoor waterpark. Lightning is different because the facility contains a large metal structure.
Lightning Within 10 Miles
WaTiki says the slide tower temporarily closes when lightning is detected within 10 miles.
Lightning Within 5 Miles
The entire waterpark may temporarily close when lightning is detected within five miles.
WaTiki Rapid City Map & Directions
WaTiki is just off Interstate 90 at Exit 61, making it straightforward to reach for families using Rapid City as a base for a Black Hills trip.
From Rapid City Regional Airport
- Leave the airport on Terminal Road.
- Continue toward Airport Road.
- Follow SD-44 west.
- Turn onto Elk Vale Road.
- Use the I-90 service-road approach to the resort.
For the latest routing and contact details, use WaTiki’s official directions page .
The Best First Hour at WaTiki
WaTiki is not so large that you need a complicated route, but the first hour can still disappear into changing clothes, lockers, towels and deciding what everyone wants to do.
Best WaTiki Plan by Visitor Type
Koko’s Kingdom first, swim diapers, short water sessions, dry breaks and an early meal.
Mix Koko’s Kingdom, activity pool, lazy river and age-appropriate slides.
Prioritize Parrots Plunge, Seahorse and Turtle Shell, then use Koko’s Arcade as a dry break.
Consider a reserved table and plan more seating and rest time.
If your family prefers a smaller-town indoor resort experience rather than a huge destination park, our Frankenmuth indoor waterpark comparison is another useful example of how day passes and hotel-included waterpark access can work.

How Busy Can WaTiki Get?
WaTiki states that the indoor waterpark has a maximum capacity of 635 guests. That capacity limit is one reason public day passes are restricted to limited online inventory.
Koko’s Arcade: Useful for a Dry Break
Koko’s Arcade is on the second floor and has more than 50 classic and modern games. Arcade cards can be purchased using cash or a credit card, and earned tickets can be redeemed at the arcade shop.
Treat the arcade as a separate budget item rather than assuming waterpark admission includes game play.
WaTiki vs Larger Indoor Waterpark Resorts
WaTiki’s main advantage is simplicity: it is a compact indoor waterpark attached to a multi-hotel resort campus in Rapid City. Visitors do not need a massive multi-day attraction plan to understand it.
If you are specifically comparing WaTiki against much larger indoor destinations, remember that bigger parks often add more slides, larger wave pools, cabanas and resort activities—but they can also involve longer walks, more expensive tickets and more complicated family planning.
